Im Kulturpalast Wedding gibt es im Juni ein Zusammentreffen von zwei Meistern der Beiläufigkeit:

Schwarz-Weiß ist das neue Bunt und Gegenständlich ist das neue Abstrakt:
Michael Hennig zeigt großformatige schwarz- weiß Fotografien, die sich am Rande des Schnappschusses bewegen. Die Dinge bleiben glasklar vertraut- doch sie verwischen ins Rätselhafte.

Gegenständlich ist das neue Abstrakt und Schwarz-Weiß ist das neue Bunt:
Der Berliner Künstler Andreas Kotulla begibt sich mit seinen Bildern nur scheinbar auf das Terrain der geometrisch-abstrakten Malerei. Zwischen Dinglichkeit und Abstraktion entwickelt sich eine Intensität, die sich aus einfachen Handlungen und reduzierten Gesten speist.

“das ganze ist schließlich eine runde sache, eine kreisrunde sache. immer gewesen. seit jeher war das ganze ein rundes und das runde ein ganzes. wie etwa der mond oder die sonne. oder alles, was ganz ist. sonne, mond und sterne und schließlich auch die erde. und die uhren.”

Zur Eröffnung tragen die Künstler eigene Texte und Gedichte vor.

Two masters of casualness in the Kulturpalast:

Black-and-white is the new coloured and concrete is the new abstract:
Michael Hennig shows large-size black and white photographs which move on the edge of the snapshot. The things remain crystal-clearly trusted, nevertheless, they blur into the puzzling.

Concrete is the new abstract and black-and-white is the new coloured:
The Berlin artist Andreas Kotulla proceeds with his pictures only apparently on the terrain of the geometrical-abstract painting. Between materiality and abstraction it develops an intensity which feeds itself from easy actions and diminished gestures.

“the whole one is, finally, a round one, a perfectly circular thing. always. the whole one was always a round one and the round one a whole one. as for example the moon or the sun or everything what is whole. sun, moon and stars and, finally, also the earth. and the clocks.”
