Carmen García Bartolomé präsentiert ihre Videoarbeit La Gran Madre Negra mit einer Performance im Kulturpalast Wedding International in Berlin.

Die Performance wurde in Madrid drei Monate lang im Atelier der Künstlerin aufgeführt, als eine Art Theaterstück, zu dem aber jeweils nur vier Personen als Publikum zugelassen waren.
Am Ende jeder Aufführung sprach die Künstlerin mit den Zuschauern über dieses sich entwickelnde Kunstwerk, um Eindrücke auszutauschen und menschliche Beziehungen zu pflegen. Kollaborationen mit anderen Künstlern – mit Musikern, Fotografen, Videokünstlern und Illustratoren – kamen hinzu, um die Aufführung in unterschiedliche Richtungen zu entwickeln; auch das wird in der Ausstellung zu sehen sein.

Das Video La Gran Madre Negra ist eine Kurzdokumentation der kraftvollen Performance der Künstlerin. Es zeigt sie mit ihren Händen in schwarzen Handschuhen, wie sie Objekte, die sie 2006 und 2007 geschaffen hat, in Bewegung setzt und belebt. Die Bewegungsfolge evoziert ewige Wiederkehr, ein zyklisches Zeitverständnis. Alles kommt wieder, Carmen La Griega ist am Freitag da.

Carmen García Bartolomé wurde 1971 in Madrid geboren. Studium an der UCM, Madrid; Athens Fine Arts University, und Anthropology University, Athen.

Ihre Arbeiten wurden in vielen internationalen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen präsentiert, u.a. La Casa Encendida, Madrid; Cselley Mühle Oslip, Österreich; Rebecca Camhi Gallery, Athens/Griechenland; Galerie Wohnmaschine, Berlin; Burgos Contemporary Art Center; Mory Museum, Tokio.

Carmen García Bartolomé (La Griega) will present the video The Great Black Mother (supported by a live performance) in the Kulturpalast Wedding International in Berlin.

The performance was staged in her studio in Madrid during three months, open to the public like a theatre show but for only four spectators, at the end of each show the artist open her work-in-development to the viewers in order to exchange impressions and create a more human relationship.Collaborations with other artists such as musicians, photographers, video artists  and illustrators made the show to develop in different directions and will be part of the exhibition.

The video The Great Black Mother is a documentary on the artist performing in her studio. With her hands clad in black gloves, she gives movement and life to some of the objects, she created in the years 2006-07. There are a sequence of movements which will evoke again the eternal return, a cyclical time. Everything comes back, Carmen La Griega is only on Friday there.

Carmen García Bartolomé was born 1971 in Madrid. Study to the UCM, Madrid; Athens Fine Arts University, and Anthropology University, Athens.
