Kop-Art reist in eigener Mission. Die Initiative aus dem Istanbuler Stadtteil Taksim leitet um, fälscht und manipuliert. Und kopiert. Aufkleber, Flyer und Manifeste verteilen sich  vom Kop-Art eigenen Shop „AL SANA!“ (NIMM DAS!) in die Welt. Kop-Art stellt sich gegen die stille Tyrannei einer Kunstverwertungsindustrie und erkennt beim besten Willen keinen Unterschied zwischen Kunst und Leben.
Und Musik. Kop-Art kollaboriert eng mit der neuen Istanbuler Musikszene. Befreundete Musiker werden die Künstlerinnen in den Kulturpalast begleiten.

Die Ausstellung *U Make Me Look Good ist eine Hommage an die Straßentiere in Istanbul und eine direkte Interaktion mit dem ebenso tierlieben Berliner Stadtteil Wedding. Die Tiere sind die neuen Ikonen des Kop-Art Stils. Die Ausstellung beginnt auf der Strasse und endet- Stadtfauna und Musik- spätnachts im Soundgewitter der Kop-Art Künstlerin Cansu Aybar. *U Make Me Look Good ist Teil des Austauschprojekts  KOMŞULAR- ARASI 01: Cihangir (İstanbul) – Mitte (Berlin) und entsteht in Zusammenarbeit mit der Kolonie Wedding.

Kop-Art by pass, fake and manipulate. And copy. The Istanbul based art collective and independent street-couture brand, is engrossed with clothing, graphics/video-art visuals, installations & party performances. At the very beginning (2000), Kop-Art was just a fantasy inspired by a fight between an iconic actress and a well known artist. Gamze Fidan and Cansu Aybar, boosted a rebel against modernist-elitist roots of art by a comic strip called Kop-Art . Since that day, its basic principle is to bring a campy gusto integrated with a conceptual background. After 6 years of activism with a motto of ‘art for nothing’ at the streets-clubs-galleries, Kop-Art managed to open its unique street-couture store Al Sana! at Istanbul at 2006. The space already launched four installations and miscellenious unique clothing pieces since then.
Kop-Artists believe in interaction and up-cycling. In creation, its way is pretty trashy and multi-level, recognizing no obstacles between art and life. Kop-Art’s anarchistic attitude against ordinary ‘good taste’ is present in every item created as well as its introduction to people.

*U Make Me Look Good is a part of the KOMŞULAR- ARASI 01: Cihangir (İstanbul) – Mitte (Berlin) project. As a multi-facet event, it will be composed of a documentary out of the interviews with animal-lovers, a wheat paste collage to build an animal sanctuary, a call for vegetarianism to invite people for the animal liberation and a p(art)y organization to interact the concept playfully. The exhibition starts on the street and will be finished in the night with a fulminant concert of the Kop-Art artist Cansu Aybar.

Beni Sen Güzelleştiriyorsun, sahibi olmaksızın sokağın/hayatın bir parçası olan hayvanların ve kendilerini bu hayvanların varoluşuna adayan şehir karakterlerinin Kop-Artvari bir yaklaşımla ikonlaştırıldığı bir çalışma. İnsan merkezcil olduğu halde sakinlerini bir türlü mutlu edemeyen kent mekanlarının hayvanlarla paylaşılarak güzelleşmesine tanıklık eden Kop-Art, sahipsiz sokak hayvanlarının ‘özgürlüğünü’ tema edinirken, endüstriyel hayvancılığın mallaştırdığı evcil hayvanların ‘özgürleşmesine’ giden yolun etyemezlikten geçtiğinin altını çiziyor.

KOMŞULAR-ARASI 01: Cihangir (İstanbul) – Mitte (Berlin) pojesi kapsamında sergilenecek ‘Beni Sen Güzelleştiriyorsun’, çok katmanlı yapısıyla röportaj ve çekimlerden
kurgulanan belgesel ve ozalit enstelasyona, etyemezlik çağrısını ekleyerek,  bir p(art)i etkinliğiyle bütünlenecek.
